Consumer Reports is proud to be one of three groups being honored as 2013 Health Policy Heroes — for their contributions to the Choosing Wisely campaign — by the National Research Center for Women and Families.
The award honors men and women, and organizations, that have helped to improve the lives of adults and children nationwide by supporting health policies that help protect lives and improve medical care for everyone.
Sharing the award with CR are the ABIM Foundation and National Physicians Alliance, key leaders of the Choosing Wisely campaign. The campaign works with physicians across the U.S. to develop recommendations to improve the quality of health care while reducing unnecessary medical tests and ineffective treatments. CR’s role is to help provide patients and their families with the information needed for productive conversations with their doctors.
NRC for Women & Families is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that promotes the health and safety of adults and children, by using research-based information to encourage new, more effective programs, policies, and medical treatments.
