The Leapfrog Group Campaign

Informing Choices. Rewarding Excellence. Getting healthcare right.

Welcome to our collaboration with Consumer Reports

The Leapfrog Group is proud to join in the Choosing Wisely campaign to help our members and their employees get better, safer healthcare and avoid unnecessary care.

We encourage healthcare consumers to utilize the resources available here – as well as those available at and – to make better choices about their care. Being an active part of the healthcare team is critical, and we hope that the resources here help you become an informed and empowered patient or caregiver.

Choosing Wisely: All About the Choosing Wisely Campaign

The Choosing Wisely® campaign aims to provide resources for consumers and physicians to engage in important conversations about the overuse or misuse of medical tests and procedures that provide little benefit and in some cases harm.

In addition to the Choosing Wisely® campaign materials, Consumer Reports has also compiled resources on hospital safety, maternity care, and prescription drugs—just to name a few.

Explore the tabs at the left for more information on how you can take charge of your own healthcare.

Choosing Wisely reports

Choosing Wisely is a campaign intended to help doctors and patients avoid needless and even harmful procedures. ABIM Foundation and many medical specialty groups have created the lists of avoidable procedures. Consumer Reports has in turn created these patient-oriented reports.

Engage with Health

You are an important member of the healthcare team. You can make a difference when it comes to keeping you and your loved ones safe.

Maternity Care

Over the past several decades, hospitals, healthcare providers, and patients have become more willing to intervene in the natural process of pregnancy and childbirth, without any pressing medical reason, but with risk to mothers and babies.

Give your baby a great start. Make sure you talk to your doctor about the information we’ve assembled here, to be sure you are doing things that are medically necessary for you and your baby, and to avoid things that are not.
